Moldova Gears Up for Pesach

Shliach Meets With Community Leaders
Shliach Rabbi Zalman Abelsky, Chief Rabbi of Moldova, met with distinguished leaders of the Jewish community in Kishinev to discuss the upcoming festival of Pesach. The meeting took place at an exclusive restaurant in the city. Rabbi Abelsky also spoke about the importance of increasing the observance of Torah and mitzvos.

Righteous Gentiles Honored in Moldova

At an event held at the posh Jolly Alon hotel in Kishinev, some thirty Righteous Gentiles were honored for their courage and heroism. Attending the event were Moldova’s Acting President, Marian Lupu, and the country’s Chief Rabbi, Zalman Abelsky.

Happy Purim in Moldova

This year, Purim was a very joyous occasion for the Jews of Moldova. Activities were run in the capital city, Kishinev, and also among the many Israeli students currently in Moldova.

Ancient Archive Discovered in Kishinev Great Synagogue

During renovation work at the Great Synagogue in Kishinev, the capital of Moldova, an ancient archive was discovered on the roof.

It should be noted that this is the only synagogue in Moldova that continued to function even during the time of the infamous KGB, who destroyed over seventy synagogues in the capital city alone. All that is left of these other synagogues are just a few ruins.

Deputy Mayor of Ashdod Visits Chief Rabbi of Moldova

The deputy mayor of Ashdod Baruch Glimeran paid an official visit to the Jewish community in Kishinev.
