LONG-AWAITED LAW
Moldova has introduced a penalty for Holocaust denial, fascism, propaganda and racism. President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, has prepared an amending law for some of the legislative acts. The Jewish community initiated this law; since 2013, representatives of the Jewish community have been turning to the government with requests to introduce administrative responsibility and criminalization for persons propagandizing fascism, Nazism, racism, for persons who are disrespectful towards individuals of other nationalities, cultures and religions, and for these who dishonor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.
In 2020, a document was drawn up with the text of the law, proposed for approval to the Parliament of Moldova. The Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova was directly involved in the development of the bill.
