Jewish researchers from the United States visited the Jewish community in Kishinev in order to document Jewish life in Bessarabia-Moldova.

In the course of their work, they visited Rabbi Zalman Abelsky, Chief Rabbi of Moldova, took pictures of Kishinev’s Great Synagogue, and interviewed Jewish senior citizens who could still remember the days before World War II, the war itself, and local Jewish history. They also visited the city of Balti, where they interviewed local Jews. These interviews were conducted in Yiddish for the sake of authenticity, as the leader of the project, Dov Ber Besser of America, explained.
