Министр иностранных дел Гидеон Саар с трогательным визитом в Молдове

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar concluded a short visit to Moldova, where he met with Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. They discussed strengthening ties between the two countries, cooperation in the fields of economy, agriculture, and security, as well as arrangements for the passage of Hasidim traveling to Uman through Moldova ahead of Rosh Hashanah.

The visit centered on commemorating the victims of the Chișinău Ghetto, with a Stolpersteine memorial stone installation in memory of Lea Schwarzman.

During the trip, Minister Sa’ar met with Chief Rabbi of Moldova Rabbi Menachem Mendel Axelrod, Chief Rabbi of Bender and Tiraspol Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gotzel, and Chabad shliach to Moldova Rabbi Shneor Tifenbrun, discussing with them the life of the Jewish community and the challenges it faces.

Sa’ar stated: “My grandfather David was born in Chișinău, and two of his sisters were murdered here. As the Foreign Minister of the sovereign State of Israel, participating in these events had deep personal meaning for me. I promised the Jewish community: we will uphold the sacred vow – never again!”
