The Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Kalman Ber, met with the Chief Rabbi of Moldova, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Axelrod.
During the meeting, Rabbi Ber showed deep interest in the life of the Jewish community in Moldova. Rebbetzin Ber especially praised the remarkable work of Chabad of Moldova in providing aid and rescue to Ukrainian refugees.
Rabbi Ber was moved to hear about the five Chabad families who, with boundless dedication, serve throughout Moldova and Transnistria – in 18 communities, including small and remote ones – keeping the flame of Judaism alive in even the furthest places.
As a special gesture, Rabbi Axelrod presented Rabbi Ber with a book of talks by the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Rabbi Axelrod was accompanied by Mr. Slavik Roitman, a board member of the Chabad Synagogue in Kishinev.
The encounter took place as Rabbi Ber returned from a meaningful visit to Ukraine, adding depth and resonance to the discussion about the state of Jewish communities across the region.
