In the city of Bender, the 19th of Kislev — the Chassidic New Year — was marked with heartfelt celebration. This day commemorates the liberation of the Alter Rebbe in 1798, a moment that allowed the teachings of Chassidut to spread openly and illuminate Jewish life across generations.
Dozens of local Jews gathered to hear Rabbi Yaakov Shechter, who expressed deep interest in the community and its heritage. During his visit, he also toured the historic Jewish cemetery of Bender, a site that preserves important chapters of the region’s Jewish past.
Together with the regional rabbi, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gotsel, the community held a warm and uplifting farbrengen.
Words of Chassidut, meaningful stories, and heartfelt Chassidic melodies filled the synagogue, creating an atmosphere of unity and inner joy. Outside the winter cold prevailed, but inside the hearts were alight with spiritual warmth.
The 19th of Kislev in Bender was far more than a date on the calendar — it was a day of renewal, inspiration, and deep connection to the enduring light of Chassidut, a light that continues to guide and strengthen the community throughout the year.
