Rabbi Shechter at the Central Synagogue of Chisinau – A 19th of Kislev Filled with Light

The 19th of Kislev, the Chassidic New Year, marks the liberation of Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi in 1798 — a moment that opened the way for Chassidut to flourish openly.

At the Central Synagogue of Chisinau, this special day was marked with words of Torah and Chassidic inspiration. Although the weather outside was cold, the atmosphere inside was wonderfully warm.
Rabbi Yaakov Shechter, the distinguished guest lecturer, shared uplifting stories and insights, delivered with depth, warmth and a lively, engaging style. The synagogue was full, and the community listened with great attentiveness.

A spirited farbrengen followed, with members of the community speaking, asking questions and connecting in an atmosphere of unity and joy. Chassidic melodies filled the historic sanctuary, creating a sense of elevation that warmed everyone despite the winter chill.

This year’s 19th of Kislev in Chisinau was far more than a date on the calendar — it was a day of inspiration, connection and renewed light.
