During the days of Passover, we celebrate the freedom from slavery, the birth of the Jewish nation and strength of the Jewish spirit. During this important holiday, the Jews of Kishinev and Moldova have been experiencing a spiritual revival in last thirty years. But they continue to depend on us for the humanitarian assistance and crucial educational programs. Together we can make a difference in the lives of thousands.
A strong sense of community responsibility is built info fabric of Judaism. The Jewish community at large must help the many Jewish families, seniors and lonely in this poor but vital region to rebuild their lives both spiritually and materially by providing everything from clothes food shelter, and religious services.
Recently, S.W. was taking care of his elderly mom who got sick this year with a critical illness. Seeing his mother in such a state was very difficult for him, and he ended up in the hospital with both a health problem and emotion distress. He needed an expensive medicine, which he could not get in the hospitals in Moldova, and needed to be outsourced. We collected the money to cover the cost of his medicine, and saved his health. Every day, your support makes stories like this possible.
Dear friend, your past donations to the Friends of Kishinev Jewry has worked wonders. Thanks to people like you, the community in Kishinev and other small communities in Moldova are experiencing a renewal after years of isolation, poverty and prejudice. Through your generosity, we have resurrected a once fading community. However, there is still more to do!
Your actions make a tremendous difference! Since Kishinev and Moldova are some of Europe’s poorest countries, sustaining Jewish Life in areas like Kishinev depends completely on resources from aboard.
Your tax-deductible contributions will help us to ensure that many more of Moldova’s Jews can join in on this wonderful experience. With best wishes for a happy and kosher Pesach,
Rabbi Zushe Abelsky
