ROSH HASHANAH 5781 IN MOLDOVA

ROSH HASHANAH 5781 IN CHABAD LUBAVITCH MOLDOVA, CHISINAU

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is the opening to a season of holidays for the Jewish nation.

Chabad of Moldova organized and held this important holiday, with all the important laws and traditions. More than 50 Jews gathered at the Chabad synagogue.

Of course, everything was done in compliance with Covid-19 restrictions – the meals were held in the courtyard of the Synagogue, but this did not prevent the joy of the holiday permeating through. The tables included all the symbols of Rosh Hashanah, with the round challahs, apples in honey, and head of the fish!

Meals were hosted as well in the houses of the Shluchim – Rabbi Mendy & Chaya Mushka Axelrod, Rabbi Shmuel & Chaya Zalmanov, and Rabbi Mendy & Leah Gotzel.

Over the course of the holiday, everyone got to hear the vociferous sounds of the Shofar. At the lake of the synagogue, crowds gathered to perform Tashlich.

The shluchim went to visit homes of Jews who had not made it to the Synagogue to blow the Shofar for them. This gave them the opportunity to fulfill one of the main commandments of Rosh Hashanah.

In addition, Chabad of Moldova had prepared and distributed more than 200 festive packages, which included apples, honey, lekach (symbloic honey cake), and flyers explaining the holiday and its commandments and traditions.

The holidays continue!
