Rosh Chodesh Tevet The Jewish Women’s Circle

It is wonderful that our Jewish women always have so many activities! the Chabad Lubavitch Synagogue conducts weekly Torah lessons for women. With the beginning of the month of Tevet on December 5th, a celebration was held in honor of Rosh Chodesh in the Women’s Circle. To everyone’s great joy, after a long absence, Chaya Mushka joined the meeting along with her mother!

Tevet is the fourth month of the Hebrew calendar. The name was brought from Babylonia by Jewish exiles returning from there.

It is no coincidence that delicious dairy meals were served at the Rosh Chodesh celebration. After all, Tevet is the month that herds of goats return to winter pastures!

According to the Jewish calendar, the first days of Tevet always fall on the last two or three days of Hanukkah. Of course, Rosh Chodesh is celebrated with the glow of Chanukah candles! In our souls, we feel the continuation of the light of the Chanukah candles. So the head of the Jewish Women’s Circle, Leah Gotsel, presented each woman with an amazing surprise: a master class where they learned to make the Chanukah candles themselves! The materials were provided to each participant: natural beeswax, wicks, aroma oils, beads, and ribbons for decorating. The class truly made a splash! Each woman is endowed with a talent for creation and this was a wonderful opportunity to express their creativity.

The meeting ended with tea and beautiful Jewish music and a photo of the group. Our dear Kishinev Jewish women left not only with candles made with their own hands, but with the most important gift: the warm of faith and community and the light of the Chanukah miracle!
