Chabad of Moldova hosts dozens of students every week for Shabbat meals and services. These students come from Israel, to study in medical universities in Moldova. They spend approximately six years studying in Moldova, and they find it very meaningful to be able to spend their weekends with the warm Chabad community. As one student once put in, “I feel that Chabad of Moldova is my home away from home, and Mrs. Abelsky is my second mother!”. Mrs. Abelsky hosts the students for meals, spends time bonding with them, and making them feel at home in Moldova. Chabad also runs weekly programs for the students, holiday services and programs, and helps them obtain Kosher food.
Recently, Mrs. Abelsky travelled to Israel, to participate in the wedding of Eden Gindin, one of these college students. Eden and her brother, Lior, both studied in Moldova and spent a lot of time in the synagogue and with Mrs. Abelsky, and were very touched and excited to have has Mrs. Abelsky participate in the wedding celebration.
