A Chanukah party took place in Tel Aviv for Moldova/Bessarabia immigrants and community members. The party was held at a fancy and traditional Moldovan restaurant. Dignitaries and Israel’s Moldovan Association members joined from all over the country, including the cities of Ashdod, Ashkelon, Ganei Tikva, Rishon Letzion, Netanya, Bat Yam and Holon. The party began with a grand menorah lighting. Many attended, including those who were not yet familiar with the Chanukah story. News channels in both Moldova and Israel broadcasted this big event. Dignitaries and ambassadors of Moldova and Israel were honored in lighting the menorah. Together with Rabbi Menachem Zalmanov, grandson of chief Rabbi to Moldova, Rabbi Zalman Abelsky obm, the audience committed to doing more good deeds, including men donning tefillin, giving charity and observing more mitzvot.
