This year, Tishrei was a very busy time in Moldova. The shuls run by the Jewish Federation of Moldova – Chabad-Lubavitch under the leadership of Chabad emissary Rabbi Zalman Abelsky held services throughout the High Holy Days.
Every day during the summer, dozens of elderly and lonely Jewish women in Kishinev, capital of Moldova and in other areas, received a special visit from Rebbitzen Abelsky, wife of the country’s Chief Rabbi.
Young leaders from around the world affiliated with the Religious Youth Service (RYS), a project of the United Peace Fund (UPF), which is a division of the United Nations (UN), gathered in Moldova for a central convention highlighting their achievements and goals. Among the speakers at the event was the Chief Rabbi and Chabad Shliach to Moldova Rabbi Zalman Abelsky, who used the opportunity to remind them of the Seven Noahide Laws which are the true path to World Peace
Lessons and special study seminars have been taking place in Kishinev, capital of Moldova. But the main lecture was given by Chief Rabbi Zalman Abelsky on the subject of learning about the Final Redemption.
This year, large signs advertising readings of the Ten Commandments on the festival of Shavuot in Kishinev’s Great Synagogue were posted alongside invitations to the Jewish community at large to attend, with the times of services.
